Generally, the GPA represents the students’ total performance in all their course subjects. Not all schools have the same method of computing the GPA but use the same principle. The Grade Point Average or The Weighted Grade Point Average is the sum of the quality points divided by your subjects’ course credits or units. Most schools score the quality point on a 4.0 scale. Your grades could correspond to a quality point in many American universities that evaluators include in your Grade Point Average (GPA). D – lowest passing grade from 59% to 69%.B – above-average score from 80% to 89%.E is sometimes mistaken for Excellent, so schools decided to use only F for failing marks instead.Įvaluators could also give the corresponding percentages to the letter grades: Note that there is no E mark, as E is also a failing mark. The highest score is A+, while the passing grade is D. American schools use this A – F grading scale in grading reports, tests, assignments, and other school works. The US grading system uses the letters A, B, C, D, and F. Read on to learn more about the US letter grading system, the Grade Point Average (GPA), and the US university grading system. The grades from such credits will be calculated into the Minimum CGPA.The grade is not everything about the student, but using a reliable grading system ensures that students are rated as accurately as possible. If a student changes majors, ACHS credits that have been applied to the new major will count as Total Semester Credits Attempted and towards the student’s Total Semester Credits Completed at ACHS. The grades from such credits will not be included in the calculation of minimum CPGA. If a student transfers to ACHS from another institution, the transfer credits that have been accepted by the ACHS will count as Total Semester Credits Attempted and Total Semester Credits Completed. For example: Total Grade PointsTotal Credit Hours Attempted 27/12 = 2.25Transfer and Readmitted Students/Students Changing Majors To get the example student’s GPA, the total grade points are divided by the total credit hours attempted. I (Incompletes) and W (Withdrawals) do not receive grade points and do not have an effect on the GPA: P/NP (Pass/No Pass) courses are not factored in the student’s GPA. For example: A=4 grade points B=3 grade points C=2 grade points D=1 grade point WF/F=0 grade points. ![]() ![]() The grade point average may range from 0.0 to a 4.0. Reasons for AW include, but are not limited to, non-payment or violations of the ACHS Academic Honesty Policy (Honor Code).Įach student’s GPA is calculated by dividing the total amount of grade points earned by the total amount of credit hours attempted.
